Frances has been teaching since 2004.

She teaches watercolours to small friendly groups of mixed ability classes where beginners are welcomed and encouraged. The classes will give you all the techniques you need to become a confident artist of still life, flowers and landscape.

Since Frances was a young girl she has had a passion for drawing and painting which continues today. She was fortunate to be taught by Albert Houghton F.R.S.A  A.M.C, Fellow of the R.S.A. She first met him through buying one of his beautiful paintings.  Her husband tracked him down, approached him and enquired if he could purchase some lessons for her as a birthday present.

He reluctantly agreed, adding that Frances could only have some lessons if he felt she was talented enough. If not, he wouldn’t be prepared to teach her as he was now retired. He gave her the four lessons that her husband had purchased and then some more. From this a firm friendship was established and she became his young protege.

It is with this knowledge that Frances has developed her own style, which she now enthusiastically passes onto her students. Frances believes that you do learn best by seeing paintings evolve in front of you and therefore demonstrates in stages allowing her students to see and practise the painting process in action.
